![]() ![]() We can face our trials in confidence because our Father uses them to strengthen us. Because God knows everything about us, He knows where we need strengthening and just how to do it. Like storms reveal leaks in a home, trials reveal holes in our faith. God's Omniscience means He knows the best way to train me. We can thank Him that He died for that sin before we were born. When we fail, God’s omniscience means we can tell Him we’re sorry and thank Him that He knew we’d sin before we fell. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers" ( Luke 22:32 NIV). “But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. Instead of washing His hands of Peter, He commissioned him! What a relief to know God knows and understands them. The omniscience that terrified this teenager comforted me. Whether that comforts or scares you, it has practical value for today. When we discussed verse two, “You know my thoughts,” one girl’s blue eyes widened and she said, “You mean He knows everything I think?” My Bible study of teenaged girls turned to Psalm 139. “O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me” ( Psalm 139:1 NLT). "And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account." ( Hebrews 4:13) "For whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything." ( 1 John 3:20) "Great is our Lord, and abundant in power his understanding is beyond measure." ( Psalm 147:5) Merriam-Webster defines omnipresent, the characteristic of omniscience, as "having infinite awareness, understanding, and insight possessed of universal or complete knowledge." But more personally, He knows everything about me. He knows the pressures of providing for a family and running a business. He knows calculus, microbiology, and English. He knows the future, the past, and everything that is going on at this moment. What does omniscience really mean? God's omniscient nature simply means that He knows everything. ![]()
